Design

Created for the Bezi Infinite Horizons game jam, Endless Surfer was built end-to-end by Miles Wilson and Gina Condotti. We developed the game in Unity, with a focus on understanding 2D physics systems, resource management (with object pooling and scriptable objects), and animation control with state machines. We also built a system facilitating fully customizable, parallax backgrounds.

In Endless Surfer, take a ride on an endless wave, dodging hazards and chasing the coveted trophies of the Seaside Cup. Ride the wave as far as you can! Weave through all types of booby traps, rocks, otters, rival surfers, clumps of seaweed, and the occasional shark. Grab onto passing seabirds for a quick breather, collect the trophies, and watch your high-score climb as you tap into the rhythm of the ocean.

Design

Designed from the ground up, this game explores the fundamentals of game development, leveraging prefabs, scene management, user input, and collision systems, while delivering a dynamic and responsive arcade experience. Players pilot a spaceship modeled after my childhood family car: a Mercedes station wagon, complete with pixel art depictions of my brother and me in the jump seats, and my father at the wheel.

Every aspect of the game, from its mechanics to its hand-crafted visual and audio elements, was developed with intention and care, with background art contributed by Gina Condotti. Jump Seat is more than just a game; it’s a tribute to childhood imagination, sibling adventures, and the magic of bringing dreams to life.

Gameplay
Engage in fast-paced, wave-based combat against incoming enemies, weaving through projectiles with fluid movement mechanics. Enemy patterns evolve across multiple levels, challenging players to adapt and refine their reflexes. A minimal yet functional UI tracks score and lives, staying true to the classic arcade aesthetic.

Nostalgic Soundscape
The soundtrack features 8-bit covers of songs from our childhood road trips, composed by 8-Bit Arcade, while the sound effects were designed entirely by me, bringing the world of Jump Seat to life with every shot and explosion.
